Liam Everts has been having a brilliant year in both EMX125 and EMX250, making huge strides forward. All of that momentum came to a screeching halt at the Grand Prix of Italy today, however, as a bike issue forced him to eject in the air. A broken and dislocated wrist was the result of that. Everts announced the news via the following social-media statement.
“Hello everyone. Today was a black day as in the second race my bike was bogging down several times per lap, but I continued because I never give up. Then as I hit a jump my bike bogged down, which forced me to jump off mid-air and broke and dislocated my wrist. Thank you for all your support. I’ll be back.“
There have been just four EMX125 motos this year and Everts didn’t score points in one of those, obviously, yet he still leads the championship heading into round three on Wednesday. Everts obviously won’t be riding there though – his season is done.
